Providing the evidence base to reduce harmful AOD use in
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Gulgihwen residential program, provided by Namatjira Haven Drug and Alcohol Healing Centre, offers a residential program for Aboriginal men requiring assistance in dealing with drug and alcohol use, abuse, anger and family violence issues.
The Centre, located on the north coast of New South Wales, caters for 12-14 residents for a period of six weeks up to nine months depending on individual circumstances. Each participant works with a case manager and the program provides education and support to address substance use and related issues to improve health and wellbeing. It includes daily activities and culturally appropriate content.
