Puyu Paki (Don't smoke - Give it up)

 

Overview

Puku Paki (Don't smoke - Give it up) aims to deliver smoking cessation programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait people in the following communities in Western Australia (WA): Jigalong, Kunawarritji, Parnngurr and Punmu. This program was named by one of the local Martu Elders Mr Joshua Booth, and offers the following services:

The program also promotes two television advertisements which were made in Nullagine during the Ngurra Kujunka Sports Festival in 2014 featuring local community people to raise awareness about the effects of passive smoking and health risks of smoking. 

The program is one of many health promotion the Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical service delivers in the Pilbara region of WA.
