Paediatric Child Health and Education Services (PATCHES)

Description

Paediatric Child Health and Education Services (PATCHES) is a Western Australian (WA) based organisation that aims to deliver child development and early intervention services to hard to reach children and young people. The main focus of PATCHES is Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). PATCHES clinicians also provide diagnostic services for a range of neurodevelopment conditions and disabilities. PATCHES clinicians come from a range of neurological disciplines, including:

The PATCHES operational model aims to address what is identified as a lack of high quality, integrated and coordinated child development, disability and early intervention services in hard to reach places and populations. The operational model is divided into three areas:

PATCHES acts as a service coordinator and broker, so that a coordinated, team-based service model may be achieved. Beyond diagnosis, PATCHES is committed to delivering evidence-based therapy and support for children and young people with developmental or disability issues, working within a systems approach that values family, community and context.
