Description

The movie Boxing for Palm Island follows boxing trainer Ray Dennis and his troupe of boxers. Ray moved to Palm Island in the late 1990's to start a new life and used his boxing skills to inspire the islands young people. He believed that by involving them in boxing they would be able to move away from a life of truancy, petty crime, street fighting and alcohol and other drug use.

In this DVD, Michaela Perske, the producer of the film Boxing for Palm Island talks about the processes taken to produce the film. Michaela talks about how she first heard about the boxing troupe and how she visited Palm Island to interview the characters for the movie. She talks about the pride of the troupe and their pride they have for their island and their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
