New National drug strategy 2017-2026 released

Date posted: 21 July 2017

The Department of Health has released the National drug strategy 2017-2026, which is Australia's first long-term framework for reducing and preventing the harms associated with alcohol and other drugs, including tobacco.

The purpose of the strategy is to provide a national framework which identifies national priorities relating to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. In addition, the strategy guides action by governments in partnership with service providers and the community, and outlines a national commitment to harm minimisation through balanced adoption of effective demand, supply and harm reduction strategies.
