National Family Drug Support Day an opportunity to highlight the need to support families

Today is National Family Drug Support Day, an annual event which highlights the need for families to not only be recognised and heard, but to be supported and encouraged to speak about their concerns and their needs.

The theme for 2017 is See the person not the drug, which aims to focus on the need to look past the stigma of drug use and instead see the person who is someone's son, daughter, sister, brother, mother or father.

The Australian Indigenous Alcohol and Other Drugs Knowledge Centre also has a Community portal, a resource for Elders and community members working to reduce the harms from alcohol and other drugs in their communities.
