Join in on a free AOD webinar with guest presenter Anthony Shakeshaft

Date posted: 9 January 2017

The Australian Indigenous Alcohol and Other Drugs Knowledge Centre (the Knowledge Centre) is hosting a webinar on Tuesday 31 January 2017 with guest presenter Professor Anthony Shakeshaft from the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC).

The theme for the webinar is A practical guide to community-based approaches for reducing alcohol harm. The webinar will run for approximately one hour, with Professor Shakeshaft taking participants through examples of how to develop a program, measure its impacts, and engage with community members, based on examples from NDARC's work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Professor Shakeshaft has had a long history in the alcohol and other drug sector, and has a particular interest in community-based approaches and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. His most recent project involved leading the largest community-wide cluster randomised controlled trial ever undertaken internationally, which was aimed at reducing population level rates of risky drinking and alcohol-related harms.

The webinar will be free to attend, and there is no additional software required to join the webinar, other than a stable internet connection. We'd recommend that participants use a pair of headphones, rather than their computer's sound, as the sound quality will be better.

The webinar will be held at:
